Hayat means life, but it is a profound concept that encompasses the human experience in all its complexity (Turkish).
This rug is an original masterpiece from the Antalya region of Turkey. Likely intended as a wedding gift, this rug was made around 70 years ago by a very skilled artisan. The prominent diamond-shaped baklava design – symbolizing sweetness and harmony – makes this rug stand out, along with the fertility motif within the baklava shapes. The border of the rug contains the wolf's mouth motif, protecting the sweetness within.
