Description
Karwan means a caravan or group of travelers, it symbolizes unity (Kurdish).
Made in Malatya in Eastern Turkey between 70-80 years ago, this runner is a Kurdish design with distinctive tied fringes. A rare piece made with high quality wool and natural dyes (evident in its exceptional condition), the bold colors and uniform geometric design make it stand out. Particularly of note is the vibrant orange color not seen in Turkish rugs from other regions.
Exact size: 39.5 x 107 inches.
Details
Natural Dyes: Our rugs are made with beautiful vegetable dyes, which last longer and are of greater value than synthetic dyes and avoid any harsh chemicals.
100% Handmade: Our rugs take between 3 months to 1 year to create, and that doesn't include the time spent spinning and dyeing the materials.
No Two Rugs Alike: Many of our rugs were created as wedding gifts or dowry pieces, an artistic expression filled with meaning by the woman who wove it.
Notes + Care
Many of our items are vintage and have lived many lives. Each of our rugs has been carefully vetted, restored if necessary, and professionally cleaned. Please expect some light wear consistent with age and use.
Additionally, there may be some unexpected variations in sizing, color and design due to the handcrafted nature of every item – we believe these little stories left behind by the human hands that created them add interest and character.
