Description
Meydan refers to an open space or public square (Turkmen).
Meydan is a beautiful piece from Turkmenistan. Their rugs are known for their highly detailed, geometric patterns that reflect the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of the nomadic Turkmen tribes from Central Asia. The cotton pile gives it a silky-smooth quality and almost shiny appearance. This rug is particularly thick and plush and is a pleasure to walk on barefoot.
Exact size: 50.75 x 81 inches.
Details
Natural Dyes: Our rugs are made with beautiful vegetable dyes, which last longer and are of greater value than synthetic dyes and avoid any harsh chemicals.
100% Handmade: Our rugs take between 3 months to 1 year to create, and that doesn't include the time spent spinning and dyeing the materials.
No Two Rugs Alike: Many of our rugs were created as wedding gifts or dowry pieces, an artistic expression filled with meaning by the woman who wove it.
Notes + Care
Many of our items are vintage and have lived many lives. Each of our rugs has been carefully vetted, restored if necessary, and professionally cleaned. Please expect some light wear consistent with age and use.
Additionally, there may be some unexpected variations in sizing, color and design due to the handcrafted nature of every item – we believe these little stories left behind by the human hands that created them add interest and character.
